Botanical Name:
Prunus Shimidsu Sakura Standard
Common Name:
Cherry - Weeping Standard
Description:
A horizontal deciduous tree, usually grafted onto a 2 metre standard. The young branches have an upright spreading growth habit, which becomes flatter and more pendulous as the tree matures. Ultimate size is approximately 1-2 metres higher than the graft x 3 metres. Large double serrated blossoms that hang in clusters along the branches appear mid-spring. The pink buds turn to white as the flowers open, with the weight of the flowers causing the slender young branches to weep. Adaptable to a wide range of well-drained, moist soils and pH levels.
