The Kanooka or Water Gum, botanic name of Tristaniopsis laurina, is an attractive and compact tree in cultivation with glossy dark green oleander-like leaves, smooth barked trunk and sweet smelling yellow flowers. It is evergreen, tolerant of pollution and is successfully used as a street tree in urban environments. Attractive bronze-red new growth and a uniform shape make this a great tree for suburban areas. It can be planted in a row as an informal screen or singly as an evergreen specimen.
