Deliveries
Winter Hill Tree Farm provides a delivery service as we understand how difficult it can be to get large trees into little cars!
Cost of delivery will depend on the size of the container, quantities ordered, and where you are located.
Our truck is specially designed to deliver trees in the safest possible manner. For our vehicle to enter your driveway we need a minimum clearance of 5m height and width, if this is not the case we are only able to leave your plants at the street entrance.
Plants up to and including 100L can be handled using a trolley and we will, where possible place these on to your property.
Plants over 100L will be unloaded with a crane attached to the truck – these will then be placed approx 1m from the vehicle. If this cannot be done on your property you will need to organise machinery and/or help to position the plant within your gates. A bobcat is recommended for 200 litre upwards.
We will not take plants up or down stairs, or through buildings. If you do require positioning of trees on your property this can be provided at an hourly rate, but must be pre-arranged with the sales staff at the time of purchase. Thankyou for your co-operation.
Background
Winter Hill Tree farm was established in 1980. Since then Winter Hill Tree Farm has gained the experience and expertise which allows us to offer our wholesale and retail customers a selection of over 300 semi-mature to advanced trees, hedging and screening plants.
Caring for our environment is now an overwhelming priority for many Australians and Winter Hill Tree Farm is proud to be able to help people do their bit to ‘go green’.
All our stock is grown on site using the most up to date technology and to NATSPEC specifications to ensure we produce top quality, top value trees and plants.
Located at Canyonleigh in the Southern Highlands, Winter Hill capitalises on the optimum growing conditions provided by a climate that ensures hardy growth and sturdy stock.
We have a huge range of deciduous cool climate trees, ornamental specimen trees and evergreen trees as well as a range of species our experience has identified as perfect for streetscapes.
In addition we offer a wide selection of advanced hedging and screening plants perfect for instant effect in your garden. We also have specifically categorised trees that have demonstrated resistance to drought and those suitable for coastal conditions.
All Winter Hill stock is grown in pots with many varieties available in sizes ranging from 25 to 1000 litre containers.
To help identify the tree that is right for you we have a ‘How to’ section on this website and then call to have a chat to one of our horticulturists who are happy to help you make the right decision.
Winter Hill Garden
If you are passing through the Southern Highlands please feel free to drop in and take the opportunity to walk around the Winter Hill Tree Farm garden.
The garden is an arboretum or botanical tree garden. It was designed in 1993 by Michael Bligh as a living showroom of the trees, shrubs and hedging grown at Winter Hill.
The first planting of the garden was in 1994 by Geoff and Lynn MacBean, the founders of Winter Hill who then proceeded to plant a majority of trees in 1996-1997 using 75, 100 or 200 litre pot sizes. It is a living example of the ‘instant garden’ that can be created when using mature trees. It is also a magnificent playground for our two young children whom you may run into as you walk around.
We are very proud of the tradition of quality Winter Hill Tree Farm developed under the guidance of Geoff and Lynn. As the new owners we are excited and determined to continue that tradition. Our aim is to help people, business, developers and Councils to grow their garden dreams.
